OUR CORPORATE CULTURE

In precision optics, there is no substitute for experience. When processing particularly demanding components, countless factors come into play that can only be fully understood and mastered over the course of many years and with countless repetitions. Thus, our customers benefit directly and measurably from our corporate culture: Our personnel policy is aimed at long-term employment relationships and continuous further development. We currently employ around 50 people. Many of our specialists have already completed their training with us. At Spectros, all employees communicate respectfully and at eye level, and information is provided openly and transparently. A constellation that only knows winners.

Our company history at a glance

75 YEARS OF SPECTROS

Spectros AG was founded in 1946 in Riehen. It all started as an optical workshop, where only optical components were manufactured. The production of the optical components for the first prototype of a slit lamp for the company Haag-Streit was a milestone, which characterizes our successful development and connection with the name Haag-Streit until today. In 1961, we moved to our current company headquarters in Ettingen BL, and four years later began in-house production of mechanical components. In 1968 we took over the MERIDIAN company, and since then we have been manufacturing and selling these products, which are in demand worldwide in the field of Geodesy.

In 1975 Spectros became a part of the Haag-Streit Group, providing the foundation for a broad-based and secure future. Since 1980 we are a supplier of various components, which have been assembled in our in-house 350 m2 clean room since 2016. Since 1994 we have used CNC technology in our manufacturing process. With the acquisition of new coating equipment in 2001 and 2018, we reached a significant milestone: since then, we have been able to offer all development, manufacturing and finishing steps from a single source. This not only ensures more efficient processes, it also represents a quantum leap in quality assurance, as we keep everything under our own control from the raw glass to the ready-to-use components. Attaining DIN ISO 9001 certification in 2015 followed as a logical outcome.

In 2018, the Haag-Streit Group - and thus also Spectros AG- were integrated into the Metall Zug Group. The listed Swiss industrial holding company, with an entrepreneurial family as its main shareholder, comprises five business units and pursues a decidedly long-term perspective. We value our role as an optical hub within the group, which provides a perfect starting point for healthy growth and continuous expansion of our product offerings.
